Here's the concept: You must clear out the board to activate and checkmate your opponent while moving a duck to mess up your opponent's development.
The grasshopper can defend pieces like an alibabba and attack your opponent's pieces with the help of the duck. The bishops can make long-ranged attacks, but only on their diagonals and once the dead pieces have been cleared out. The sailboat serves the same purpose as the bishop, except it moves vertically and horizontally. The knight-rider can make long-ranged attacks, skipping through gaps in the dead sea, but it difficult to align.
