Hello, future readers, I have submitted a variant called Cavalry Charge, take a look!
Sure, but still. You have to recapture one way or another, and then choose which pawn to bring forward to defend your front pawns. This creates holes and weaknesses that you would also have to defend from new pawn breaks and knights. I've given it a fair try, and just moving behind your pawns means getting eventually crushed, just as you would expect. But I am addressing the problem of shuffling to gain time and general slow gameplay. Maybe removing the 3rd rank of pawns, adding another knight-rider (although keeping track of just one still gives me problems), shortening the board, or allowing promotion sooner. I still really enjoy it as is. Give it a try first and let me know which of these solutions you think would work best.

I think he meant something like ”don’t move the Pawns unless necessary.”
