Spinner Clog (Sixth Version)
This, somewhat disappointingly, breaks the record for most versions submitted of the same variant. The record was previously held by “Gatekeepers”, a Teams variant accepted in 2021 that was removed following the merge.
I changed Green to a Ranter (the balance means Green will not shuffle or pass up on a strong capture) and shrank its army, then removed spaces that I deemed unnecessary. However, Yellow still had an advantage in the ability to double-check, so I added two new spaces to aid Red before eventually adding Sideways Pawns with the suggestion of @BN1208 (shoutout to him), an idea that I had opposed. That new rule also makes Blue’s moves more predictable (so long as another piece is not sharing the n-file), reducing luck-based elements to acceptable limits.
Note that in Game 1, Yellow resigned in a won position, apparently not knowing what to do. Also, there were more notable games I wanted to share but since VW is too strict on similiarity rules, I’ll post here:
